Necropolis of the Masters of Arts

July 21, 2009

Here lie a handful of Russia’s famous artists: Pyoter Tchaikovsky, Feodor Dostoevsky, Alexander Borodin, Modest Mussorgsky, Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov, and Mikhail Glinka were a couple I recognized. Two who recieved a lot of fanfare but who I did not recognize are Georgiy Tovstonogov and Ivan Shishkin. Can anyone enlighten me about either of these characters?

Also, as a display of Russia’s pride in her MVP of Art, Alexander Sergeyevich Pushkin, included in this cemetary of artists are Pushkin’s wife, sister, and at least three friends. Simply because they’re connected to Pushkin (who, I believe, is buried in or near Moscow, instead).
